Cross Country Extravaganza!

Camp came to a close and me and Bjorn decided to make the trip home and adventure. So we set out in a small pick-up truck with lots of stuff packed in and no air conditioning. Coast to coast windows down! This is some of what happened along the way. We documented with Johnny O.C.s video cam also so some day you'll see the edit, but for now heres the cell phone pics we collected along the quest. Last days of Govy. life.

Then we rolled on to Missoula, MT
Session at the Edge Of The World ramp.

Then we headed to White Fish for a few days, sorry theres no photos but we stacked some shots that you'll see soon.

Bozeman was the next stop. Turns out we cruzed into town on our friend Fletchers birthday and got to party with him and skate his miniramp. This is the god that lives there.

Then back on the road!
Montana has some serious signs. Kinda sketchy!
The cooler is stocked! Brews and dews.

Minnesota state fair! Ate tons a fried food and a bucket of cookies.
There was a couple people there.
Then went to see the Virgin Whores, Holy Grail and Toxic Holocaust show at the Tripple Rock.

Its was a little too rainy the other day to go boardin' so we took a good old fashioned family trip to the thrift store. This is Krispy. Pretty much hes the man and by the end of the day decided everyone in our mini van was our new family. Me, Alex Rodway, and Seth Hill went on an adventure a few days ago. Hit Hood River park then headed to Portland skated Ed Benedict park, skated soooo far around Portland late at night then got up early and headed to Burnside. Checked out Portland and found some spot be for headin back to Govy. If i was less lazy i'd label all these shots but you can figure out whats goin on in them you self. Rodway with a pillar ride and some cool art behind him just to the south of this sentence.

This band is so rad. Pioneers of metal from the early '70s they gave us the basis that would grow into many genres of metal after. One of the darkest and most notable being black metal. This band was a huge influence on early black metal bands such as Mayhem, Darktrone and hellhammer. You can also find this song in one of my favorite skate video parts ever, Richie Jackson in And Now. Enjoy this classic!

Burnside turns 20!

There's a birthday party for Burnside on Halloween every year. But in 2010, being that the "Granddaddy of DIY parks" is turning 20, a huge celebration is in order. Starting last weekend, local skater/artists showed up to support the party by painting murals on the park with a carnival theme that's more than fitting for this piece of skate history. There's also a new bowl just behind the elbow wall, and a cinder block wall went up Monday morning. The fill was thrown in and forms were cut, and by Wednesday a couple cement trucks had shown up for the pour. There are many hands in the concrete—mostly those of the park's OGs like Sage Bolyard, Mark Scott, and Li'l John—but plenty of others, too. The painting's been led by graffiti artist Jay Meer.

Thanx to the homies who are donating money, time, and artwork, and to the establishments who helped out with art shows to raise loot for this special occasion. Happy birthday, Burnside. Here's to a great 20, with many more to come!

Awesome Album!.....Avenged Sevenfold-Nightmare

Nightmare is the fifth studio album by Avenged Sevenfold. Nightmare is the first Avenged Sevenfold record without James "The Rev" Sullivan performing drums due to his death. It was on December 28, 2009 when the body of James "The Rev" Sullivan was discovered inside his home. This incident made the band suspend the work of the album for some time. However he wrote some of the songs before his death so this is therefore the last studio album to which he contributed, According to the band members, he left a couple of vocals (to their fortune, clear and in key) before his death, which they used on the record, for this reason The Rev's vocals are still on the album as a tribute to him.
The new album, Nightmare, is dedicated to The Rev's memory and although it's not exactly a concept album, it does center around The Rev. The eeriest thing about it is there is a song on the album called "Fiction" (a nickname The Rev gave himself) which started out with the title "Death". And it was the last song The Rev wrote for the album, and when he handed it in, he said, 'That's it, that's the last song for this record'. And then, 3 days later, he died."

This is that song.

Mike Portnoy, from Dream Theater performed as the drummer for the album in The Rev's place, he will also play with the band for all upcoming tours through to the end of 2010.
Nightmare debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 163,000 copies.

This is one of the most moving albums when put in the context of the story surrounding it. I used to kind of like Avenged Sevenfold but I now have a huge amount of respect for them. Over coming a big loss and bringing something out of its ashes is a not an easy thing to do. R.I.P. "The Rev" thank you for what you gave us and what you left behind.
